IMPLANTS

Hometown Dental offers our patients dental implant services. A dental implant is a metal tooth replacement that is surgically positioned in your jaw. Implants integrate to your jawbone, providing support for the artificial tooth cemented on it. Unlike dentures, dental implants don’t come loose. They can benefit your oral health as well because they don’t have to be anchored to the surrounding teeth like bridges. You might be a candidate for dental implants if you have healthy gums and bone to support them.

If you don’t have sufficient bone to properly support dental implants, don’t worry. Hometown Dental offers three bone grafting services to strengthen your jaw bone.

The first way we can supplement your jaw bone is with a sinus lift. Sometimes the sinus will enlarge in size following the loss of upper molars. When this happens, there is not enough bone in the upper jaw for your Hometown Dental dentist to properly place dental implants. During a sinus lift, bone is augmented to replace the missing bone in your upper jaw.

Hometown Dental also offers autogenous bone grafting. Dental implants can only be placed when the patient has enough bone in their jaw to properly support them. If you do not have enough bone to support a dental implant, your dentist will take bone from a different part of your mouth and graft it onto the deficient area of your jaw.

Finally, if you’re getting a dental implant to replace an infected tooth, Hometown Dental offers implant site development. When an infected tooth is removed, there may be some loss of bone around the infected area. Your Hometown Dental dentist can graft bone onto the site to add structure for when you get your dental implant.

Hometown Dental is always striving to stay up-to-date with the latest in dental technology. That’s why we’re happy to provide our patients with digitally-enhanced dental implant treatment planning. Our computer software system allows us to assess bone quality and find the best spot to place your implant.

As with your normal teeth, maintaining good oral hygiene is an important part of keeping your dental implants in tip-top shape. Hometown Dental will provide you with a custom-made implant maintenance plan to keep your implants clean and infection-free. And as always, make sure to keep up with your regularly scheduled dental cleanings and examinations.
